I know you’re not supposed to say that out loud. There’s a version of being a businessman where the business comes first and the people are a line on a spreadsheet. I don’t care. It’s never been true for me, and pretending otherwise has never once made me better at this.

So I’m going to write the whole thing honestly.

Everybody keeps asking me if AI is going to take their job. And I understand the fear completely. That’s the story they got handed. AI shows up, the company cuts people, the numbers look a little better next quarter. That’s the version everyone is bracing for, and plenty of companies are going to prove them right.

It’s just not the version I want any part of.

I built this thing slow. Took me years to find the right people. The kind you find and then quietly decide you’re going to protect. We work hard. We have each other’s backs. And we roast each other into the ground, which, if you know us, is just how we say we love somebody.

I am not studying AI every day to figure out how to need fewer of them. I genuinely can’t think of a worse use of my time. I’m studying it to figure out how to give them more of their life back.

Because here’s what I keep landing on, and it took me a while to say it this plainly. Most people do not want more money near as bad as they want more time. Time with their kids. Time to not be exhausted at the end of every single day. Time that’s actually theirs and not owed to anybody.

Money is mostly what we settled for, because nobody was offering the thing we actually wanted.

So here’s the dream I’m chasing. What if AI didn’t take your job. What if it took your Friday. Same work. Done in less of it. And a whole day of your life handed back, not as a reward you had to beg for, just as the natural result of working smarter.

Four days. Same output. Same pay. A day back.

I want to be straight with you, because I’m always straight with you. I’m not there yet. We’re 100% remote, the path is messy, and there are days the math doesn’t work and I have to go back to the drawing board. This is a thing I’m building toward, not a trophy I’m holding up on a stage. Anybody selling you the finished version of this is lying.

But it’s the direction I point at every single morning.

And I think the reason I care this much is simple. I’ve had bosses who saw me as a cost. I’ve had seasons where the work took everything and handed back a paycheck and a tired body. I know exactly what it feels like to be the line on somebody else’s spreadsheet. I decided a long time ago that if I ever got to build something of my own, the people inside it would feel the opposite of that.

AI is the first tool I’ve ever held that might actually let me deliver on that. Not as a slogan. In hours. Actual hours, handed back to the people who earned them.

So no, I don’t think AI is coming for my team. In my shop, I want it to be the thing that finally gives them their time back. That’s the whole experiment. That’s what I’m chasing.

Maybe that makes me a bad businessman. I’ve made my peace with the idea that it might make me a decent one.

Next Tuesday I’m back to the work itself, and what AI is quietly doing to how your customers find you. But I needed to write this one first.

See you next Tuesday.
